G-System owners unite!

How many G-system owners are out here?
I've seen a few change hands in the classifieds.
I just ordered mine and it should be here this week, I just wanted to get some tips, tweaks, preset advice, whatever anyone is willing to offer up.

My rig will consist of a Mesa Triaxis & 20/20 power amp along with my Dunlop DCR rack mount crybaby.

I have a few other effects that I may or may not keep, but the above is the core system I'll be using.

Musically I write and play a mix of progressive rock/ Metal using 6 and 7 strings.
Think Tool meets Jason Becker meets the blender.

I've got one. The biggest user community at the moment for these is over in a g-system thread at thegearpage.net

Re: G-System owners unite!

I got mine 3 months ago. The only thing I wish it had is tube distortion / overdrive. I use my 2120 in the loop to fill the gap. Otherwise IT RULEZ!!

Re: G-System owners unite!

I've had mine for about 3 months as well. I haven't had the chance to gig with it yet. For those of you lucky enough to be gigging, how are you transporting it/protecting it? Case or board/case? The thing weighs a ton even when you have the brains of it mounted in a rack. I suppose it would have to be screwed into an actual pedal board because no amount of velcro would hold that thing.

I ran across pedal board mounting instructions somewhere...
I'm trying to find them.
I am considering that option as well, since I plan on using an expression pedal or two.

Found it:

Though the G-System is built from heavy-duty materials,
you may wish to mount it in a flightcase for extra

Therefore, the G-System’s side panels have four screw
threads (Ø 4mm).
Be sure to use the correct type of screws (M4) to
avoid damaging the threads.
So screw mounts from below into the pedal housing to secure it to a board.

Seems simple enough.

The latest and greatest guitar effects unit...
On http://www.tcelectronic.com/Default.asp?Id=8873 there is a write up of Steve Vai's touring with it during the Zappa Plays Zappa tour.
BTW,
I got mine shipped for $1349.00
Should be here tomorrow.

Re: G-System owners unite!

Thanks for the info. I actually bought a pedal board/case from Angstrom cases. It's a good solid, heavy case. The board is 3/8ths thick and 40 X 24 which is obviously large enough to accommodate the G-System, a Boss expression and volume pedal, a Morely Wah, and other pedals. Basically I just wanted to haul all of my crap in one case for easy set-up and tear-down. But, damn is that a load to carry. I was curious if anyone else had a large board like that or carried the G-System in a separate case.

This sucks, I feel like I'm 12 years old at Christmas.
I'm following the tracking info, it's on a truck bound for my house, I'm stuck at work, and then once it arrives, I have to leave with the family for the weekend... no quality time with her...
Could be worse, I guess.
I will bring the manual with me for fun.

Re: G-System owners unite!

hmmmmm,

I might try one out. I'm a longtime GT-5 user and it's time for some new gear. Is anybody using it with a Fender Hot Rod?

I hear great things about the G-system. I'm gonna check out a store and see for myself if the Word lives up to the Reality...

Regards,

JP

Re: G-System owners unite!

After all that...
It showed up..
So far, I'm not feelin' it.
That isn't good.
We'll see at rehearsal tomorrow, but so far, the routing isn't what I need, it's squashing my tone, and I've tried a couple listed methods.
Maybe I'm overlooking something.
This is annoying.
