I have a Furman power conditioner with sequencing outlets (you can plug in your amps and processors so when you turn on first the processors come on, then the amps and when you turn off first the amps go off then the processors) and it has saved my rack a few times in outdoor (generator powered) gigs.

I have an old BBE 462 (I think thats the model). Have had it for 10+ years. Couldn't live without it. Are you looking for effects units only or just the extra stuff?

Tom is right -- no rack is complete w/o a RFX Patchwork... *That thing switches my amp channels way faster & cleaner than the stock footswitch, plus isolates all yer noisy effects OUT of the loop when you're not using them.

I'm actually not a huge fan of Sonic Maximizers..

I think they're ok for lower dollar rigs, but why spend thousands on a head, effects units, preamps/poweramps, just to filter it all through a $500 processor?

Boggles the mind.

So if a Maximizer cost $1000 it would work better? *I don't have one but have heard great things about them, even in high $ rigs. *If it does it's job well what does it matter what it costs? *Let's see, it does one thing and costs $500 ( you can find them for around $200 if you look), if we apply that logic to a *G-Force which can do 8 really good effects simultaneously, it is less than $200 per effect and if you figure in all the effects that you have choices of it goes down to less than the cost of a stompbox per effect. *Seems to me a $500 effect is pretty expensive.

Didn't really mean to be a smarta$$, just trying to figure out the logic out of $.

If SRV used a Tube Screamer (which originally was a cheap effect) in front of his $10K Dumble, was that so wrong? *Just use whatever helps you get the sound in your head out of the speakers.

The sonic maximizer is an incredible unit. *It really adds definition to the sound. *Definitely the most important part of my rig. *
