Good tome - From my amp

I have a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL100 half stack... I can't get a great solo tone out of it... kinda like for the love of god sound...

I know you have to crank the amp to get it to sound "great" , But i live in an apartment.. and already got the cops called with it on 3....

Thanks
Jason

Marshalls generally aren't known for gobs of creamy sustain. A Boss overdrive pedal might help out a little bit.

Yeah, what Brent said. *FTLOG is a Boss SD-1 pushing a hot rodded Marshall.

I did the Boss pedal in front of *a 1978 Marshall in conjunction with my legacy. I tried recording FTLOG. Though I have never attempted to learn the song and was just improvising, I think I came real close to nailing the tone. I’m not kidding. It’s real close.

I have been trying so many amps. All seem to fall short. Thought far from perfect, my present rig comes closer than anything I have tried recently.

Bob - what setup did you use? *I am not sure what you mean by "in conjunction with the Legacy." *I am curious as to what guitar you were using and what your settings were on your amp and OD. *Thanks!

Good tome

If you're looking for some good tomes, check out anything by Thomas Mann or Chuck D. (Charles Dickens, that is). *Both are known for several extremely good tomes.

Well, I have a JCM2000 DSL head and I like my tone very much ... here are the settings:
Deep - Off (Brutal for hard riffing)
Tone Shift - Off (sucks anyway)

Presence - 5.5/6
Treble - 5.5/6
Middle - 7
Bass - 9

Reverb - 10 (I really like reverb )

Volume - Low... can't really crank it. If you turn it up, you should lower the treble and presence controls...

Gain - 9

I also use this settings for rhythm and frankly think Mesa's are too dry sounding. They ARE better for DT type thing, but for solos I prefer the Marshall, also they sound better in rock for me...
For example, I prefer Satriani's tone against Petrucci. Although I like them both, for me Satriani has a warmer and sweeter tone... if you like Petrucci better, then find another amp, the Marshall will never give you that.
