good volume boost stomp box??

hey guys. i'm looking for pedal that will just kick up my volume a bit when i switch to solo, maybe add a little punch as well, but not really color my sound too much. should i be looking at a boost pedal, like the fulltone fat boost, or some sort of overdrive pedal. let me know what you guys think. Here is my set up:

Various Ibanez RGs -> crybaby (occasionally) -> Mark IV Head ->
(Effects Loop) Ernie Ball Mono Volume -> Boss DD20 (End Loop)

thats all.

Re: good volume boost stomp box??

Hi,
I use a carl martin Hydra boost, when I want to boost without adding any colour.

Lots of other pedals can boost but often in the mid range with the assumption that its to give more drive and cut through the mix fro solo's - I use the mxr zack wylde for this, but if you want to keep the sound unchanged but louder the carl martin hydra is pretty cool.

Cheers
John P.

Re: good volume boost stomp box??

Im going to recommend what I recommend to everyone.. Marshall JCM 900 SL-X with 2 footswitchable master volumes...

On a more practical note: the Keeley Java Booster makes an excellent solo booster because it boosts the high notes first and really makes it scream! the mid boost and full boost also come in handy too! My friend has a 64 Fender Bandmaster head that has way too much treble for a treble booster but the mid boost makes a killer solo boost!

The Seymore Duncan pickup booster will give you lots of boost with little colour added to the sound. This thing will give you +25db of gain. The new Pig nose stomp pedal is incredibly loud. This thing will add fuzz but kicks like a mule. I think it's called the Detonator.

This is what I would like to try someday:

Admittedly, the volume knob on the side of the box is sort of odd.
