^^ I asked him why and he just said the outlet is screwed into the wall funny, but it does not have a history of spiking. I always use the same outlet for all of my amps, but the Major is extremely high voltage, much higher than any of the other ones I have. I could try a
Peavey Classic 30 on it to find out, as those also have a history of burning up tube sockets fairly regularly.
Anyway I've been playing through it more. It sounds amazing. It has the warmest
clean tone I have ever heard, and I put all RFT tubes in the preamp and they are great sounding tubes with a bit of gain to them. Definitely the way to go - sound of an old Mullard at a fraction of the price!
