Ground Control and Ground Control Pro

In looking for a footboard for my soon-to-arrive G-Major, I've been pointed at a Ground Control a number of times. In looking for info on it, I was wondering if the original Ground Control is still available, or if all Digital Music Corp makes now is the Ground Control Pro (which seems to be a lot more expensive).

So I was wondering what the difference was in the new unit, if it's worth picking up or if I should find an older one. And, with a Ground Control (or Ground Control Pro) and G-Major, can I use phantom power and avoid another power chord being run to the footboard?

I actually just went from the Ground Control to the Ground Control Pro and couldn't be happier! The Pro is built a lot better and is a bit more flexible. You can send the original Ground Control units in for an upgrade, but they still don't have the complete functionality of the Pro. The thing that I like best is that the buttons on the Pro are a bit sturdier: they're metal buttons much like you find on most high-end pedals (i.e. Fulltone). Basically, the Pro looks and is built just like the boards that Bradshaw puts out. Great unit!

I just picked up an original Ground Control (v1.0--doesn't get much more original than that) to use with my G-Major and Rolls switcher. I really like it so far... for as old as it is it's still amazingly flexible.

Unfortunately, the G-Major can't send phantom power.

The Ground Controls can be phantom powered by the GCX switcher unit (next on my wish list!). I'm sure they can be phantom powered by other units that support that feature as well, but I haven't really looked into it.
