I haven't tried the GNX unit, but my GT-6 has been my primary tone machine for almost a year, and i love it. I haven't even tapped into all of its potential, but i'm using about a dozen patches that i've tweaked.
Now i just need a good clean full-range amp to use for gigging, and i'm set. (I'm probably going to get a Tech 21 Power Wedge 60 later in the winter.)

I dont have the gnx 3 i have the 2 and for about 6 months or so its all i have used for now it seems to suit me for practice its got a lot of usable sounds after you tweak for a while. I think its a nice practice unit and it does the job live.

I'm in the same situation as Darren - the GT6 is the main source of my tone while i look for a better amp...
The GT6 was the most flexible of the multi-fx units i tried.... The only thing that i'd have a complaint about is the fact that you can't run more the 1 effect from FX1 and FX2 (effects banks) simultaneously......
There are a lot of variables to tweak as well so there is plenty of different sounds to experiment with...
From my experience, the pre-amps (amp modelling) is very much dependant of what amp you play through and at times sound a bit distant to me. BUT having said that, i use the amp modelling for direct recording into my computer only and not for live use.... I can get some good distorted and clean tones recorded ......
All up the GT6 has been worth it for me - cos i intended to use it for effects when playing live and as a pre-amp for recording....

I've used the GT-6 only a little bit, but Ive owned a GT-3 ever since it was released..about...3 years ago or so. I still use today as my TONE MACHINE and Ill be replacing it with a GT-6 very soon.
The GT series by Boss is like the RG421 from Ibanez. It is VALUE out of this freaking world!! No lie. For what you pay and what you get I've never seen anything like these babies. They have absolutely crushed any other multi-fx pedal Ive EVER seen, (cept of course the VG-88 and the like)
I LAUGH when I see people playing with those dumb Digitech multi-boards or any plastic piece of noise-making crap. I always tell them..."Ever played a GT board from Boss??" "No." " You have no idea what your missing"
If I seem a little to broad with my reply, I perfer the GT's...Their not just built like tanks. They are tanks.

I use the GNX3, and I HAVE tried the GT-6. A nice unit, but I liked the preamp sections more in the Digitech. It's also very rugged and tough (it's mostly metal.)
Advantages over the GT-6
1. Better (IMHO) amp sims
2. Built in 8 track
Advantages of GT-6
1. More user banks
2. FX loop
3. Boss name (Reliability, altho I have had my GNX3 close to a year, and no problems whatsoever, and my RP300 for more than a year, with no problems.)
I rate the effects sections about equal. Both are very nice units, and I'd have no problem playing the Boss. I just preferred the Digitech. They are very comparable to each other. I'd say, if you really want the 8-track (nice feature!) then go with the Digitech. If you see the Boss cheaper, and don't care about the 8-track, then it's a great deal.
I use a RG2027 into a GNX3 for electric tones, and a RP300 for piezo/acoustic tones, into PA and monitors. Simple, and probably more versatile than anything out there this side of MIDI/Roland.
If you like the GNX3, and o' dude laughs, laugh back, because it's terrific.

Im very biased towards the GT-6 mostly because Ive never used the GNX3. Sorry if anyone was offended by me calling Digitech boards "crap" but all the ones Ive seen were. But I havent done my homework yet on Digitech so Im not gonna knock products I dont know about. Take my reply as just an expression of how much I like the GT-6, having nothing to do with the GNX3.

p.s=im gonna see if i can go try one of those GNX things out...

I own a GT-6 and I like it very much. I use it as my main pre-amp. Straight into a Peavey 50/50. Great sounds and very versatile. I gig with it and has never given me a problem. Probably one of the best "bang for your buck" investments out there.

Hi,
Thx for your all your answers, they help a lot, i am sure to go with one of them.
just a little thing, why does a rack multifx really more expensive?
are they really better? what are the advantage to get one of them like triaxis, lexicon, TC electronic etc.....
thx if you have some time to reply.

No doubt, the GT-6 is a nice unit. As far as top of the line, floor amp sim/multi FX boards go, there are really only two choices- the GT-6, or the GNX3. Either will do ya good!
And as for rack FX/processors, FrenchJem, well.... that's a big subject. Some, like say an Eventide processor, are ... eh, let's say subjectively (it's all subjective) waaaaaaaay better than most if not all floorboards. The Lexicons/TC-Electronics, well, those type are more or less equal in the ways that count, with there being many variables. Such as, the quality of the amp sims/distortion paths (the GT-6 and GNX3 smoke'em there,) the quality of FX, signal routing (Lexicon is amazing there,) tweakability, etc. Let's just say for the sake of argument in the BROAD sense, they are comparative in price and performance. But again, it all depends on what you are using. A dedicated digital reverb processor costing $500 or more (price near enough to the floor processors) will probably crush these others in reverb (perhaps in quality... the GNX3 is 24-bit, 44.1kHz, certainly in tweakability) performance, but then, all it will do IS reverb, ya see? For my money, a nice all-in-one-box is very efficient and handy, and in the long run, more cost effective.

I've got GT-6 and like it very much. Too much tweaking for me though, so I play with only 8 basic patches I've created... Lot's of possibilities for those with enough patience.
