having problems with my fender deluxe - Crackly

Im running a preamp into my fender deluxe. ITs a rex 602. I use it bassically like a distortion pedal. SOmetimes i use a boss GP8 as well. The on light flickers on and the amp's sound become crackly what is going on?

Is the preamp too strong of a signal for the deluxe? *If it is, that's a good way to blow the amp. *If not, sounds like a bad connection somewhere in the wiring... cable or power supply.
