Help on Eventide

I'm going to be purchasing a used Eventide in the near future, and was just wondering what the huge difference between an H3000 D/SE and an H3500? It's obvious that the H3500 must be better in some respects, but I don't know what those are, so if anyone has any experience with these, any help is appreciated.

Steve Vai wrote the 700-747th Patches in the H3000-H3500 series.

Thanks?

Looks like the specs on the internal junk inside both systems is the same, so does the 3500 just have more presets, and more sampling time?

Thanks, but now they only answer tech-related questions, so a newbie like me isn't going to get much help from there. I just want to know which Eventide unit is for me, because I can't spend $3000 on a 7000 series or up...

So spend $1800 on an Eclipse. The 3000s and even the 4000s are really old and crusty units. Eventide has done a lot on improving them.

Looks like an Eclipse might be for me...it's just odd thinking of all the artists that use these, and they are running old 3000s or 4000s in their rigs, and I think "why dont they upgrade?"

remember this:

The 3000 series is not multi fx machines, you can't run many effects at the same time, and they are old, and maybe will need service.
the 4000 is multi fx, so is the eclipse too, and have more power than a 4000, i don't remember how much, though.
The 4000 series do have open platforms, which means you can make your own presets.
But the eclipse have better ad-da converters and 24 bit resolution, and sounds better.

I am familiar with the eclipse, I had one for a year, which is a great unit, but i traded for an Orville, which is simply unbeatable.

Good luck

Tony

Thanks for the help. I think I'm settled on finding a used GTR4000, I think that would serve my needs well.

Thanks, I did go there, they were helpful. If I had the money for an eclipse then I'd do it, but I'm going to have to go used. If all these famous artists got all these sounds using this old crusty equipment, then I don't see what's wrong with it. The 4000s are barely over a decade old, I'm sure it will do much more than I'd ever need it to.
