Help to optimize POD XT sounds on recordings

I find POD XT sounds are quite well when the guitar is played alone. However, when I use the POD XT for lyrics in a recorded song, those sounds just don't feet. Anyone has an idea on how optimize those sounds ? Tried to change micro, speacker and all that can be changed but it just don't satisfy me more. Thanks
