help with amp feedback! and gear question chorus pedal, flan

any suggestions on helping me get rid of my feedback on my amp? its a laney gh-50 all tube. when i crank it up to around 3-4 i start getting feedback i dont want to sacrifice my drive and the gain. can a rocktron hush super c do the trick? what other devices can be useful?

as for pedals what is a great pedal for flange and a great pedal for chorus? two seperate units would be nice . has anyone heard anything about the ibanez cf7 with the two combined?

thanks

have you tried new tubes, yet? your pickups may need to be repotted as well. a hush will work, but if you use your volume knob to get a clean tone, prepare to get alot of nothing. the gate will kick in and kill your dynamics and sustain. same if you had a 2 channel amp that had a global loop. it'll kill the clean channel. be wary of it as it is not a fix all. good product, but wish they could make it a tad more versatile.

I put Svetlanas EL34's in my Laney AOR and it is quite crispy and crunchy, especially when you scoop the mids. I put JJ 12AX7's as well.

I like a suggestion I read while looking for info on a hush unit. It may be the answer you your question - "turn down."

the problem with turning down is that i go from clean to dirty alot in just about every song and when i turndown you cant hear it. i also do not have a footswitch for the amp and i love the distortion i can get out of it...

i really like EH tubes. i used those and sovteks, but now i use line6. no more tubes. anyhoo, i have never heard any bad about JJ/tesla tubes. the gh50/100l is an awesome amp, sorry to hear that it's giving you crap. try it with different/more guitars, like i said could be the pickups. BTW do you stand close to your amp? if you do, that may be another culprit. there is also a chance, that a little of all these things may be occuring. one problem may be amplified even more cuz of another prob. feedback problems are always a pain in the butt. that reason and easy setup is why i went to line6.

The rocktron units are good I like them. I mean even dimebag darrel uses one and look at his tone! that guy uses as much or more gain than anyone. Of course the more gate you give the more problems your going to have. Cut back on your gain a little most use too much anyways

It shouldnt matter unless your amp sucks. lol
Its more of whether or not you face your amp that counts, because thats the end your pickups will have the least sheilding causing them to squeal microphonically. Basically what you have to figure out is what is feeding back, your amp, the pedals you use or the guitar, each one of which can cause it.

Noise gate it lightly, placing the hush pedal/noise gate in the FX loop (after preamp, before poweramp stage) this helps a lot
