Help With Low E String

The low E on my Gibson Explorer just feels dead, no life in the response unplugged or live. I've had three different pups in it, 500t, Breed, and currently a Super 3 and it still never comes to life. I don't think it's the pickups. I guess I'm spoiled by the great response of my RGs.

Is there any trick to make it respond better, saddles, nut anything? Please only tell me if you know it works cuz I don't want to spend money if I don't have to. Thanks

I don't know what you mean by "dead".

Is it not loud enough in comparison with the other strings? Lack of sustain?

Kind of dull, not as lively as my other guitars.

Re: Help With Low E String

Not to ask an obvious question...but have you tried changing strings? Maybe it is just a bad string?
