hey you podXT owners , i need your help!

hey whats up

A bought a PODXT a few hours ago, and i cant fugure out a few things:

1) I dont know how to download patches into my podxt, do i need midi interface for that? or patches move to the pod via the usb line?

2) when trying to upgrdae the flash memory, the upgrade software writes: "your version of podXT does not support upgrading flash memory from USB", and after its writing i need some kind of midi interface?

what does this mean? is it normal or somthing wrong with my pod?

now, what the hell is a midi interface, what is it consists of, just a midi cable or it comes with a midi card etc?

Thanks!

I don't have an XT so I'm not sure how similar they are. My Pod 2 doesn't even have a USB connection

But, to answer the other question..

MIDI interfaces come in loads of different flavours, USB, Serial, Parallel, but the easiest solution is to look at the back of your pc and see if you have a joystick/game port connector on your soundcard. If you do then you can get a gameport to midi cable pretty cheaply.

By the way, I think I listened to some of your MP3s the other day (cover of Touching Tongues & some others?) if that was you they were awesome and I hold YOU responsible for me having to buy a whammy pedal :P

I transfer (and edit) patches with a version of Emagic's SoundDiver that came with the pod. I'm not sure they still include that since Apple bought Emagic and they stopped making PC software
But with SoundDiver it's fairly straightforward, you can see all the patches in the pod, edit them, open patch files from disk and then drag & drop them to memory locations in the pod etc. I won't go into too much detail in case you don't have it

Also, I'm at home now and I checked the mp3 on my desktop and it was your version of Crying that I remembered. I knew I recognised the name. In fact I think I played to my girlfriend when I was in a "I'm such a bad guitarist - look what these guys can do" sort of mood!

There might be something wrong with it. Download and install GuitarPort from their website. It will do all the updates when you run it. If it doesn't, contact Line6 or your dealer. Remember to take a Restore point before you do so as it may cause problems later, I didn't find it to be stable when running Cubase SX.

It gives you a whole load of extra (and very good) patches. Copy these out of the directories, and then you can get rid of Guitarport if you want.

PODXT Edit is a simple patch in/out controller which only runs via MIDI. Get MIDI cables and run PODXT Edit for stable response, and you can load back in the patches you saved from Guitarport.
