I was at my friends place yesterday and brought my boss gx700 to try to compare it to a new boss gt8 he just bought....but thats not in the focus in this thread...The point is...my friend doesn't have a guitar amp-so he uses his sony hi-fi stereo instead...so, we plugged my boss gx700 in it first, and WOW!!! The sound i usually use - the distortion(actually called VINTAGE OVERDRIVE)+some preamp settings - (although it was good anyway) WAS PERFECT-MY DREAM SOUND-THE BEST SOUND I EVER HEARD, AND EVER WANTED TO ACHIEVE!!! It's tigh, with just enough gain..great for soloing...great for riffs...JUST PERFECT!!!
So now...i am thinking of getting an HI-FI amp instead, but with enough power to handle for playing in a band...maybe some hi-fi
power amp with speakers with enough power (that way i will also be able to achieve beautifull stereo!!!)..
And, anyway..I have never actually owned a good guitar amp..i am having some tube Teisco 40w...and using Peavey tnt 150w
bass amp...and at the rehersals i use marshall jcm with 4x12...but sound was never as good as i mentioned..
BTW my guitar is RG550ex...but this was achieved with his rg470 with evolutions..i will go there again today to check what's it like with stock pickups on mine..maybe i will have to go with the evolutions..but well'see...
So, what do you think about this...? Any similar experiences of using guitar processor directly through hi-fi...?
My only fear is that maybe this is only some kind of coincidence with this particular model of Sony HI-Fi stereo my friend has..so i have to try it in more HI-FIs to check it out...
I am anxious to check this and your oppinnions out...?
