Hotplate Feedback

Does anybody know how to get feedback when using the Hotplate? For example Flying in a Blue Dream type of things. Is it even possible with it? Let me know.

I was thinking about getting a hotplate...but now that you mention that, I'm wondering too.

I used to use a hotplate with my Mark IV. Keep in mind that the Hotplate doesn't reduce the perceived volume output very much, but the db settings do allow you to drive the tubes harder at lower volumes. Feedback swells ala FIABD were easily acheived. In fact, I still had to stand almost as far away from the cab as compared with NO attenuation. It does color the tone, but onlyu when you start getting past the third selection. I eventually sold the THD and got a Koch Loadbox 120 (features a headphone out jack for completely silent playing as well as line outs for recording). Wonderful tool and highly recommended, but the THD is just as good. It's just a matter of what specific features you want. Hope that helps.

What do you mean by third selection?

The THD features different db levels of attenuation to further reduce volume and drive the amp harder at lower volumes. Once you click your attentuation selector past -8db of reduction, it does start to color the tone of the amp. The first couple of settings allow most of the natural character of the amp to come through. My recommendation would be to pick one up used and try it out to see if it works for what you want to achieve. If not, you can always turn around and sell it for something else that may work better for you.
