How many pedals can you chain without signal booster?

So I went from a Rack effect (gsp21) to pedals, and have been adding them one after another for about a year now. I'm starting to get some serious clipping/farting as the signal fades when I have the more button engaged on my satchurator.

I'm pretty sure I have some Power issues. I've got several pedals on their own 1 spot adapter, and some daisy chained on another 1 spot.

But I'm wondering if I also have some signal degradation issues. When playing full volume, the signal is fine, but when I roll back the volume, or it starts to fade naturally is when I get my clipping.

Here's my chain as it stands.

Morley A/B (chained) > Korg DT-10 (Chained) > Bad Horsie II (Isolated)> Phase 90 (Chained)> Satchurator (Isolated) > Phase 90 (Chained) > TC electronics Chorus (AC Powered) > DD7 (Isolated) > Little Alligator (Chained) > MXR M-108 (EQ) (Isolated 18V) > Boss RC-20XL (Isolated)

I'm trying to avoid spending $400 on two pedal powers to get power to all this stuff, So I'm wondering if this is all power issues, or do I have too many pedals chained, and need something like an MXR micro amp, or other signal booster.

Thanks,

Geoff

Ok, let me try another angle.

who's got more that 11 pedals chained?

I just know this is all a power issue.

Some required reading (with emphasis on the stuff about buffering).

Would it be possible to move everything after the second Phase90 into the amp's effect loop?

Are you using the AB for two parallel paths? If so how do you add the signals at the end of each path? If you're not using a buffered mixer the problem may stem from that.

Re: How many pedals can you chain without signal booster?

The AVT 20 I use for practice doesn't have an effects loop. The JCM800 I have does, but I'd need an attenuator. It's in the plans at some point, but not in the budget right now.

The A/B is used strictly to switch between guitars, but I've been considering using the zzyzx cables as an instrument cable and using that to switch guitars so I can re task the A/b for different signal paths.

Thanks for the links, Petie. Those are some good links. I'm trying to find the best way to implement all this stuff because I'm as close to achieving my tone (today's version at least) as I've ever been. But I guess the fun is in the pursuit.

I'd say check your cables and prepare to spend some money on a real power supply. I believe MXR makes a nice one that Bob Bradshaw is using with his designs. It looks like a rack piece but it's meant to be on the floor.

Yeah, I know this needs to be done.

That's a real nice power supply pictured. One of my issues with the voodoo 2 is that it doesn't have enough outputs to cover all my crap. That looks like it'll give me headroom to buy more stuff
