How Many Use Rack Multi-Effects?

Wondering how many of you use them and how many use them to gig with?
What kind do you have and how do you like them compaired to pedals?

I think I'd like to get one due to being cheaper than seperate pedals.

i use a g-major. and am quite happy with it. it's not as quickly editable as turning a knob on a single effect pedal, but it has a lot of parameters to edit, sounds pretty good and is very easy to use, plus only costs $399 new

Re: How Many Use Rack Multi-Effects?

I've used a Boss GX700 with a FC200 midi footcontroller for years. Basically dozens of pedals in a 19" box. Been very happy with that.
Recently switched to a Boss GT Pro. Mainly because of the larger flexibility in the midi department and newer amp models (think Rectifier), added bonus is various extra ways you can hook it up (balanced outputs, USB and optical connection to your pc for editing and recording). Together with a stereo power amp (solid state) and either 2 wedge monitors or 4x12's this is my personaly preferred, lightweight, multi-purpose, live-rig.

Re: How Many Use Rack Multi-Effects?

I don't think you should get one because of the price alone. I've had my GSP2101 since they came out (~12years) at the time it was ~$1k. For the same money I could've had 6 pretty good pedals (for example Comp->Dist-> Chorus->Pitch-> Delay->Reverb) the main reason is flexibility IMHO.

Even if you only use Distortion+Delay you may still like having 100+ presets for gigs etc. But you must have some affinity with technology, and you must be willing to spend some time with them. Their true abilities are never shown in the factory presets.
