Yeah, but he forgot to mention that one guitar was a rare JP 7 string that has an original printing from picasso etched onto the body... and it cost him $25k.

eh, I'm fed up with gear. i can't afford good stuff, with the exception of my two jems, so I spend an ungodly amount of time trying to get mediocre stuff sounding good.

I've actually been known to spend days preparing and tweaking my gear to record guitar parts.

Want to see my lovely list?

Ibanez SA - $160
Peavey Rage - $90
Line6 DM4 - $100
Ibanez SRX505 Bass - $400
Violin 1 - $200
Violin 2 - $1400

The only thing I like is the bass (yes, not even the violin), and it's not even that good. Of course, I am 15 years old with the first work I've ever had in my life (pit orchestra). Man I need a job.

Well if I just count the stuff I use it comes out around $3000. That's two UV's and a Carvin Legacy (and a Bad Horsie occasionally). Then there is all the stuff I'm trying to sell or don't use, that comes out around $2500. I have many regrets throughout my guitar shopping, but I believe I have gained some wisdom when purchasing stuff. I try to no longer buy things just because they would be cool, or they look like good deals. Practicality is what I go for now. Also collecting with UV's but that will take awhile. I may look into a Parker next. Anyways, I have spent too much money.

My gear cost less than my education, and less than my condo, but cost more than my Mercedes.

Being that I'm newly married and wish to by a house in the next few years(big enough so the guitars have their own room) I have to agree. Fortunately most of my massive spending was done while I was working for a music store prior to my engagement.

I'd say I've spent enough on gear over the years to make me appear financially better off than I really am. That's all I'm willing to disclose at this time. I will say I have been able to get some ridiculous deals on certain items (yes it was all legal!).

I play four differnt instruments, so I spend alot more on music than on guitar stuff, in fact, I have only spent about $1600ca on guitar gear ($1500 Guitar, $100 distortion) other than that, on a bass and bass amp and drums I've spent a good $3500 on everything, including a primitive recording studio.

Re: How much money have you spent?

Well, I think it's a good time to bump my old thread....A few updates have probably happened all around for everyone, so if your already in this thread, then update, if not, then tell us anyway!

Alright, I went from $2100..to about $4000. Thats not too bad for almost a year later I guess I bought a new 6 string bass, upgraded to a rack system and a cab, along with a new wah and other stuff. You?
