How much would this amp be worth?

My brother has a Crate full stack that he wants to sell. It's about 10 years old with a 100W solid state head. I think the model is GX1000 or something - 4 12's in each cabinet

Does anybody have an idea what he might be able to get? I told him probably not much even though it is in great shape and hardly been used. He thinks because he bought it for $1,000.00 that it's still worth a lot.

Any thoughts?

He'd be LUCKY to get half of the $1000.00 that he paid. And that would be to somebody who really didn't know any better. Crate solid-state stuff just doesn't have much of a resale value. Depending on which speakers the cabs have, they may be worth more than the head. If they're the fuzzy, Ozite-covered cabs, they should have Celestions and might actually be half-decent cabinets.

Lucky to get half. You may want to check on Ebay: I think they have an option that allows you to look at past auctions and see what they sold for. Also, with Behringer offering 4X12 cabs with Jensen speakers for $249. each, your brother may want to see if he can trade someone the stack for a nice second ax instead.
