Re: Hughes&Kettner Tube Head

Yeah, I had a Tube 100 head, great sounding head, not the loudest 100 watter I've used, but sounded great and had 2 modes per channel or something like that (it's been a while, I don't remember exactly).

Great distortion sounds, but it doesn't do the Mesa rectifier sound, it does the old modded Marshall sound, which I prefer, YMMV.

Hope this helps,
Roger

Sorry my broken language.

Thanx.

I was hoping that it is more hi-gain amp, but perhaps I should try first that somewhere. Reason for intresting to this amp is clear; in those new h&k amps have so "living" and "breathing" sound compare to e.x. peavey and marshall, but they cost like little villiage. Tube Head and Duotone seems very similar in specs so...

However, it can always boost with SD-1 pedal, but then it may just be a "stage" before H&K Duotone or Mesa Boogie.

Who use/d recording artist this tube head?

Secondly, looking suggest from old tubeheads to metal.

I didn't say it wasn't high gain, although it might not have as much gain as a Rectumfrier, it has gain, it's just a different flavor, more in the Marshall, Soldano, Bogner camp than Mesa. It is a great sounding amp, of course, I'm not a huge Recto fan, they are good, but not for me.

Yeah, that was the point. I am not so big fun for marshall sound, even it is not bad, but I am looking amp which "develop" the sound and same time the player too. And marshall have very one tune - sound.

I pretty sure that it is good amp, but my concern is mainly for that gain. But then again, if it is not for my taste I can always sell it again or try boost or try obligations and buy that duotone.

The H&K is more versatile than a Marshall, they have a nice clean channel too if I remember correctly. But, if you are looking for that Mesa sound, I would go with a Mesa.

Wrong answer, it's all about a DIEZEL HERBERT.
That's the best high gain amp ever made....PERIOD!!!
Now, if you talking soley about Hughes and Kettner, yeah the MKII Triamp is
the best they got.I tried out one of those and a diezel herbert in a 2 day
time span and the diezel SMOKED the MKII in every way!!!! Yeah, I know
the herbert is $4100 at your local guitar center....

Re: Hughes&Kettner Tube Head

I have a Tube 100. Sounds like well engineered and hot rodded Marshall head. The clean channel's second mode is one of the best crunch sounds I've EVER heard. 2 channels with 2 modes that are footswitchable means great versatility. H&K makes great stuff.
