My old setup went

Guitar>TS-9>Decimator G String>6505+>Recto straight cab. If you have a hard time getting that setup to sound huge, you're doing it wrong

I will forever and always recommend that you buy a boost of some kind and a noise supressor/noise gate for the front. It makes a WORLD of difference in the sound.
