I need help with this rig idea... - Calling all techie exper

Okay I don't know if this is possible, but I think it is...

I was thinking about putting together this rack

Mesa Boogie 20/20
Line 6 Pod Pro
Marshall JMP-1

Going into a Mesa 2X12 (Cuz I need to fit it in my small car) although a 4X12 would be idea

Anyway I would want to use the Pod for everything except clean sounds...I would want to switch to the JMP for clean sounds, but still utilize the effects of the POD...So my question is, is this possible???

Could I use a midi footcontroller to do this?

The reason for the switching of preamps for clean, is because I don't really like the POD clean sounds...I was hoping maybe another cheap preamp like the JMP could provide that for me...But I still would want to use the effects...

My limited knowledged brain thinks I would need to be able to switch preamps, then have the POD effects go in the loop after the JMP...

When I'm using distortion I would switch back to the POD...

Anyway thanks for any advice, input, feedback etc...

If this isn't possible I'll prolly do the:

20/20
Triaxis
G-Major

Thanks!

You just described the rig I'M putting together! small world.
* * * * * I haven't purchased the marshall JMP1 yet,but
since the pod and Marshall both have effects loops, it should *be pretty easy.Take your pick,try it both ways,and one will be just right for You. The pod has a pretty good foot controler, so I would use that if possible. I think you would just try to program the marshall into one of your POD presets.
* * * * * * * * I must say, I'm not really a techie,so lets hope someone who knows a bit more than I do will help us out here.What I described to you is what I'm going to try.
* * * * * Just for practice, I'll try it with my ADA MP1, and then I'll let you know how it goes.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *Good luck,

You will not be able to use the Line 6 pedal with the JMP-1, or any other MIDI device. Neither of the Line 6 boards transmit MIDI data, but rather use computer cable.

In order to use both preamps, you are looking at using a muli-channel MIDI board, like the DMC Ground Control.

Ideally, you want to use a mixer to balance the signals of the preamps and effects processors (Digital Music Corp. makes a mixer that works with the pedal. You can also mix analog pedals into the signal as well.) The mixer becomes crucial only when using a separate effects processor.

If you are only switching preamps with no processing, the mixer isn't needed.

If you are going to use the effects in the Pod with the Marshall, you would have to set up a clean "tube preamp" setting with the effects as desired. No mixer is needed with this set up.

I hope this helps,
Butch

the Line 6 floorboard does transmit MIDI data... but it is not programable. *To send the data to other devices you use the POD Pros MIDI out... I use the floorboard to switch patches on my G-Force and D-two.

I'm 99% sure that what your wanting to do will require some sort of switcher system though and that the Line 6 floorboard won't work for that. *I'd skip the JMP and get a G-Major if I were you *You can tweak the POD Pros clean sounds to your liking and get better FX outta the G-Major.
