I think i'm in love

Well as a lot of you know by now GC is now selling Peavey. Well last week I had a chance to play a XXX they got in the night before and I am in love. They also said that they got in a 6505+ but had not unpacked it yet for demo purposes. Anyways I was wondering how many jemsiters have a XXX or have had one and what do you think. If I can scratch up the cash I am looking for this to be my first all tube head/cab.

Just out of curiosity, did you demo a Mesa?
I think my leanings would be for something more versitle for my 1st tube amp, from what I've read the XXX is a one trick pony. For the cash, you could by a combo like a VHT or Mesa that would blow the Peavey out of the water.

My rationale is that you might try another amp down the road and say to your self "I should've tried more amps 1st"
Also compare resale values, it is a decent indication as to the amp's desirability factor down the road. MSRP on the 120 watt head is just over $1500, but you see them on the bay for around $750-850 used or new, depending.

Make sure you check all your options.

They do have a used Mesa Steletto head there that just makes everyone drool, but I don't think I can scratch the cash for that after buying a new les paul standard.
