Re: Ibanez Valbee!

I havent played one, but with a 6.5" speaker I cant imagine it would sound that good.

Re: Ibanez Valbee!

I tried one. It sounds buzzy and not very loud at all. I think the speaker is the prob.

EXACTLY! buzzy and not loud at all.

To tell you the truth i don't really know the difference in terms of sound quality between solid states and valve amps. all i know is valve amps tend to cost much more.

Well, it IS a practice amp. You can't expect that tiny box to sound like a wall of 4x12's.

Well usually a Valve amp will warm and big compared to solid state but not in this case.

Yeah but this one is really bad. I tried it when I bought my Kustom Tube 12. The tube 12 is a solid state amp and it sounds 110% warmer and better in every way. Plus it's have the price.

Re: Ibanez Valbee!

I own one of those! damn. Well i didn't know anything back then. I still feel like kicking the salesperson who sold me a js1000 to go along with a valbee. well i thought the colour was cool though.

Re: Ibanez Valbee!

The thing is it's just too small to really sound good. So the extra money it costs because it's a tube amp is just a waste. Your not going to see the benefit through a 6 inch speaker. Might as well call it a tweeter.

Re: Ibanez Valbee!

So what amp would you suggest for the same budget, that will also sound good with my Zoom G2 effects pedal ?
I would like to play all from Satriani to Slash to more metal type sounds.
Thx in advance.

Re: Ibanez Valbee!

Its a pity most 5 watt amps are consigned to the budget end (cheap & nasty), because a 5watt valve amp is actually 1/2 as loud as a 50watt (if everything else is the same obviously - same speakers etc).

Id love a 5 watt valve amp with the features of a Dual Rec or roadking or something (multiple channels & voices, assignable eq, solo boost etc).
