Ibanez Weeping Demon?

I just go the latest Ibanez catologue the other day, and was intrigued by the WD7. I am a huge an of the old Ibanez WH-10 wah, and was just wondering how the new wah compares?

Thanks again!

I order 2 of them a month ago at the store I manage and they still hav'nt come. All of the bigger centers probably got theirs. I'm hoping soon.

Got one yesterday at those 'big centers' for a great deal and I'm quite impressed by it Only other wah I was interested in was the Bad Horsie 2 but the Weeping Demon had more of the same features for the buck. I haven't tried a WH-10 so I can't really compare the two. Technically, the WD-7 is 4 wah's in 1 pedal: Bass or Guitar Wah + Footswitch on/off or Autoswitch on/off. Best feature about the wah is you can adjust the spring tension of the foot pedal with just a coin. I'm still playing around with it but i've managed to get the sound I wanted in just a few minutes. The pedal can be understood without the manual although it is hard to read as there are 5 langauges written on a single sheet of paper. As for tone, haven't noticed any 'tone degration' from the guitar to the wah to the amp, yet.

As am I!!!

To me it sounds quite similar to my beloved WH-10 (which has sadly passed away since starting this thread )

Thanks for the info guys

After playing around with it since friday, I've managed to get a really good sound out of it and 'tweaked' it to my preference. I guess i'll try to do an objective review about the WD-7. From its appearance, despite being made in China, it's very solid from the metal construction and would handle a good beating. There are 3 things about this wah that stood out the most to me: a) Optical sensors! b) fine tuning options and c) Autoswitch/Normal switch function. I had described a little bit about Autoswitch/Normal switch function earlier so I'll get into the fine tuning options (something that isn't mentioned on the Ibanez site??). There are two knobs under the foot pedal: Range Fine tuning and Auto Switch delay. The Range Fine tuning knob adjusts the frequency when the pedal is depressed forward while the Auto Switch delay knob determines how fast the wah should turn off once the pedal is returned. As for the other features, the level knob doesn't necessarily 'boost' the guitars signal but adds depth and character to the wah's tone while having a light boost when activitated. The Lo and Q settings are well described through diagrams on the manual.
There are some things about this wah that can be improved like adding a buffer circuit. Otherwise, this wah is very quiet, not at all 'hissy' and no radio russia while playing at loud levels although I do notice a 'popping' sound at a subtle level when the wah is activated and deactivated (hopefully this is normal for a wah of this caliber). I wasn't interested in most of Ibanez's Tone-Lok series but after I demo'd the WD-7, it was hook, line and sinker. As one might ask where and how this wah is connected, the WD-7 is set in normal mode and plugged between a UV777GR and a Mesa rack system. My only other problem about this pedal is that it needs a much much longer power adapter! :P

Well, I just ordered it from music 1 2 3 (apparently the thing without spacing is swearing... ahh maybe as an advertising style thing?) as they had a (comparatively) insane price for them.... after shipping and import tax i'd be unlucky even if it equalled the UK price. Anyone in the UK should give it a try... i'm gonna get it earlier than anyone waiting for the shops here to get them, and for a better price... ohhh yes.

Re: Ibanez Weeping Demon?

I tried one in a local shop....Pass...I'll stick to my Bad horsie 2 before I waste my cash, it felt sloppy and didn't have to bit I thought it would, but then again I'm pretty aggresive with my wah-ing.

Re: Ibanez Weeping Demon?

my god... totally remembered this was the last thing i bought before I went back to college... bought it the same day I came across a 1077XL for $899 but never snagged it :\
I know this same WD-7 I reviewed was sold to a friend... I tried buying it back from him but he liked the wah too much... I ended up buying another one from a fellow jemsiter... so far, consistency/quality's been the same over a period of 3-4 years
