If you could only have 3 effects for Live Rig?

Hey folks.

I'm wondering what everyone here would pick if suddenly you could only use 3 effects in a live setting? What would the effects be, and what brand would you use? Just wondering what you folks would use?

I'd use a distortion or overdrive, Delay, and probably a wah..

If I'm using my own gear it would be EQ, chorus, and noise suppressor.

If I'm using stuff on my wishlist it would be wah, distortion, and chorus/flanger.

- TC Electronic Flashback x 4 - covers all the digital and analogue delay sounds I use
- MXR Micro Flanger - awesome simple to use flanger that I can also dial in kinda chorus-y sounds from when needed.
- My DIY Giant JJ (op amp Big Muff clone with mods) so I can hit the dirty channel of my amp with ridiculous amounts of dirt for over the top noise.

I can easily cover everything I need to in my band's set list with this. I could use a wah, but its' not the end of the world.

And since you said three effects, and not pedals I'd still throw in my TC Electronic PolyTune Mini and MXR Noise Clamp in there too.

Very interesting. I think it would be a good delay, od, and wah for me. I find that most folks can get by with few effects. I was watching a video of this guy playing the guitar / a fender tele the other day, and to get other sounds the guy must have had 35 effects pedals on a huge pedal board. I coudn't believe it. I mean, why??? Why not just get a switching unit and multi effects at that point? I can't believe anyone would need that many effects, but go for it if it helps.. hehe..

Because of my JVM i'd have to have a Isp decimator on there, probably a TC electronix hall of fame reverb pedal because the JVM's reverb doesnt do much for me and and, either a dd-3 or a Flashback delay.

With this setup and my amp and my jem, i can basically get any sound i need. Although i still feel the need to have 'to many effects' on the board haha!

All I need is one delay pedal for soloing. 500 ms, 25% in the mix, 10% for clean stuff.

I've noticed almost everyone wants a delay and or reverb. I think delay would be the big one if we could only have one good effect.. Interesting..
