Incoming basses!

So, I took a few guitars I had lying around and wasn't playing, and decided to trade them for basses. I've been missing my Bongo since I sold it, and I really did have a ball playing it. Basses go very well through my PA system, so I don't need an amp, I can just plug them in and go.

So, with a deal made for my Jackson Soloist, I picked up a Carvin LB76 that shipped today and will probably arrive mid next week. The seller isn't the original owner, and doesn't know what it's made of. It appears to be maple on ash, with a 5 piece koa/maple neck. The only pics I have of it are from the seller, so here are those:

The other one I traded my beautiful Heritage 555 for, and I got a very nice bass indeed. This one is also on its way, but I have a few pics of that from that seller as well.

This one is Warwick's top of the line, the Infinity Limited. This one is an '01, and has been upgraded to an Eastman preamp, and the knobs switched out to better match the top. I have since found out (after trading for it) that these now sell new for $5359 US. Whether I'll actually ever be able to play the damn thing is another story, but it sure is a looker!

Anyway, the Warwick:

Front:

Back:

And full body:

Cool, huh? I've already told my flute playing oldest daughter that she's going to be doing an awful lot of scale practice with her Dad in the next few months, and she seems at least willing to give it a shot. I may need to bribe her in the future though

More and better pics when they are in the house.

jim

Re: Incoming basses!

Fretless in the house Very intimidating, but a world of sounds available from the preamp. This is either going to get a ton of scale work or she'll be traded for something with frets, I'm thinking. Pics later, I'm hoping for the Carvin to arrive today as well.

Re: Incoming basses!

Carvin can make you something similar on the guitar, with the through neck visible through the top. It's just a more popular option on basses.

Re: Incoming basses!

I played a Cirrus 5 string and a Fender Fretless Jazz today and loved both of them; and I rarely ever play bass. I liked the look of the Cirrus and it wasn't too heavy either, but the Fretless was just too nice in a different way.

Re: Incoming basses!

Nice!

My bass player used that same model Carvin 6-string for years.

I personally like the Warwick although frettless Jaco stuff is way beyond my abilities!
Enjoy!!!

Re: Incoming basses!

The Carvin finally arrived, warped beyond repair from sitting on loading docks for 3 weeks +. Very unfortunate, as it was absolutely gorgeous but also completely tung oiled. The postage was paid for 2/3 days, and it took 24!
Anyway, I have a Lakland Joe Osborn 5 incoming, so I'm not too bummed about it.
