Re: Inexpensive practice rig - AX3G, RP100A or G2?

Yeah, but the VAmp2 and Pro sound pretty much the same; if he didn't like the 2 I doubt he'd like the Pro.

Can't hurt to check out the G2, though I like some of the stuff you didn't (I think the V-amp is midrangey, but like it overall, and the DG Stomp was limited, but the sounds it had were very good, IMO)

Re: Inexpensive practice rig - AX3G, RP100A or G2?

Thanks everybody -

It's down to either the rp100a or zoom g2. I tried the zoom g2 a long time ago but i will admit, i had no idea how to use it which was probably why i didn't like it then. But i have read both the g2 and rp100a manuals and will try both out this week.
Is the only difference b/t the g2 and g2.1u the usb and foot pedal? I imagine you could dial up some metallica-like rhythms with the g2 or rp100a? Anyone have any sound clips?

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Inexpensive practice rig - AX3G, RP100A or G2?

I have an RP80 and it's too quiet with headphones. Don't know about the RP100A, but check the 100 out for this. I wanted to keep the RP in the living room to noodle around with, but background family noise drowns out the headphones the signal is so weak. May just hook it into the effects and use the Whammy feature with my amp rig. No good for practice for me, though, and the distortion sounds like ****aki. I like Behringer sounds, own a V-amp pro. My 2 cents.

You can get some pretty good metal tones from the G7.ut so I think you might be happy with the G2.

Yeah, only difference with the 2.1 is USB and expression pedal.

Stay away from digitech my friends :P, youll get a good tone out of the korg but its not very flexible, zoom's older tech is amazing i havent played a product from them in years that was worth leaving the store with though.

I use a line 6 guitar port right now and get decent tones out of it, and had been using an older korgax1000g not flexible but had great real amp tones ina pinch and i literally dropped a cinder block on it once and it still works (dont ask)

get a vox valvetronix...easiest most versatile amp ive ever owned. i can dial in so many sounds. they have smaller combos out.

i sold my rack w/ triaxis for the valvetronix 120w head. worry free and good tones. when i have roadys loading my gear i'll get the back breaker rig haha.
