Question

Intellifex or G-Sharp?

Which one would you buy if both where the same price? And why?

Re: Intellifex or G-Sharp?

I've had my mk1 Intellifex since 1991 (big bucks back then) and it's been in my rig ever since. Some of my sounds just wouldn't be the same without it, but that's probably more psychological than anything else! Despite that, I would definitely recommend the G Sharp, as the Intellifex can be a pain to program with all it's multi-voicing, where as the G Sharp is much simpler to use, and in all honesty, in many ways, a lot better. The G Sharp chorus alone wins hands down. At the end of the day it's pretty subjective so I'd recommend trying both out, and if possible, side by side.

Re: Intellifex or G-Sharp?

Thanks for the input. I am trying to decide between the Intelliflex / Intelliflex Ltd / TC G-Sharp / TC M-300 or the TC M-350. Looking for something with good reverbs, delays, chorus, flanger, and phaser. I had a G-Major but did not care for the Flanger or Phaser, very weak IMO. Also looking for something a little easy to program. Any ideas?

Re: Intellifex or G-Sharp?

ah, I was quite disappointed in the G-Major as well. Tried and bought a used Replifex later; which imo sounded much more organic and is more straightforward in use to me. Besides that, the G-major gave my ADA MP1 Mesa 50/50 setup a weird 'clicking' artifact, that kicked in from time to time. Never had it with the replifex. Now, the replifex had more effects on board compared to an intellifex, things like a compressor etc, you'd have to check for comparative list. However, effects like a reverb and chorus have more voicings and parameters. The reverb was a bit weak on the replifex so I added an old more analogue Boss RRV-10 to my rack to fix that. If I come across a cheap intellifex, I'd probably buy it.

So after seeing the G-major, things like a G-sharp etc... naah, not for me. I read that the black-faced Intellifexes sound beter than the newer silverfaced LTD's, but couldn't confirm that. I smell a bit of Tubesceamer-like hype here.

You can see the replifex in my rigg over here:
