Intellifex Vs Xpression

Hi everyone.

I am so done with my G-major. I've had nothing but problems with it and now that it is going to cost me over $350aus to fix it I've decided to cut my losses and look to Rocktron.

I know lots of you use either the intellifex or Xpression units and wanted to know which one you think is a better unit.

I can get a Mint intellifex from a fellow I know for $250aus or I can get a brand new Xpression for $695aus. I don't mind paying more for the xpression if it is a better unit. But if it is just a repackaged intellifex then what is the point?

It will be used with my triaxis/2:90.

Thanks

Sanchez from down under.

I wouldn't even bother with Rocktron unless its a Prophesy. You should check out a Digitech 2101 or one of its brothers.

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

I've owned a few Rocktron units including a Intellfex and Chameleon and they sound OK, but there not really transparent, at least no where near a G-major. I loved my 2101 untill I blew the tranny, clean delays, nice EQ's and a cool harmonizer. I don't know what your price range is but the T.C. Electronics M2000 is a pritty sick delay system, as well as the holy grail of delay units, the 2290, good luck finding one though. Don't forget about the G-Force too..

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

Everyone I speak to says that the G-major is not as transparent as the intellifex. I know my g-major changes the sound of my amp.

I want a dedicated fx unit only that will not alter the tone of my amp unless I choose it to.

Then I would get a Prophesy, it destroys the intellifex..

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

But the prophesy is a preamp also. I want a dedicated fx only. No gain.

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

Well, in that case I would get a G-Force. its hands down one of the most transparent and powerful FX units out there, and thats why Steve uses it (well, used it, now he's doing the whole G-System, and ditched all his Bradshaw stuff). Don't let your previous problems with the G-Major turn you away from TC Electronics.

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

Big difference in price here in Oz.

New G-Major around $1000-$1200
New G-Force over $3500
New Xpression $695
New Prohecy $2359

We get fleeced here.

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

Just buy it used on e-bay, save you a ton of cash. I would never, ever buy any of those things bran new.

in US $ used it would be:

Used G-Major around $300
Used G-Force around $800
Used Xpression around $200
Used Prophecy $850

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

You'll be fine with the Intellifex... my friend just bought a used Intelliverb for himself and it does the job well. His choices were G-Major, Xpression, & Intellifex/Intelliverb. I have a G-Major and 2 Xpressions. Rocktrons IMO have superior sounding effects as compared to Digitech so I would NEVER go Digitech over Rocktron.

Do you prefer the Xpression over the TC G-Major?

Re: Intellifex Vs Xpression

For ease of use yes... they're comparable otherwise... if you don't need the channel switching capabilities of the G-Major... anyone would be fine with the Xpression.
