ISP Decimator ProRack owners

I just got a used unit but it didn't come with a power supply. Just wondering if I can use any power adapter to power this unit. Also, what's the polarity for power input?

Re: ISP Decimator ProRack owners

Also check the manufacture date. If it's pre Nov 07 do the noise mod on it. Improves it 1000%.

Re: ISP Decimator ProRack owners

not sure if it's on the back plate or inside. Here's some info from Buck:

"The formal changes are to add two 18k ohm resistors per channel across R30, R32, R87 and R88. In production these resistors will now be 12K ohms but it will be easier to those looking to make the change to simply add these additional 18k ohm resistors across R30, R32, R87 and R88, which gives a net value of 12k. This is also easier to do and avoid damaging the PCB feed through plating. If you are capable of making this change without damage to the PCB (the unit continues to function after the change) ISP will honor the original terms of the warranty without any question. Anyone who is not competent to make this change but wants to have it done can contact ISP to have the change made here at ISP Technologies. "

If you can't find a date check to see if you have a 12k ohm resistor on R30, R32, R87 and R88. If you do then you have a newer model.

I use a pedalpower unit with mine:
http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_ac.htm

The unit takes ac, so no polarity issues.

can't find a date but I pryed it open and didn't see the "stacked" resistors in that area... I can't quite "read" the resistors so i'm not sure if i need to perform the mod and if so, radio shack has these resistors???

now that you mention it, I think I got a dud... might as well send it to ISP and get that noise mod done too...

Talk to Buck. He may honor the warranty. Way cool dude so give it a try.
And if you send it in you might as well get the stereo mod too.

Re: ISP Decimator ProRack owners

darn... the day I mail out the unit to ISP, I receive the power adapter from the seller in the mailbox... I guess that saves me from purchasing a new supply but then again, it's a bonus that ISP is honoring the warranty of the unit to have it inspected + hopefully perform the "noise" mod as well.

Re: ISP Decimator ProRack owners

So a follow-up... I finally got my unit back from ISP today. Very kind people... I got a phone call from Buck after he received my unit a week ago and mailed it out that same day. They performed the "noise mod" and troubleshooted the unit (lose solder on power socket) for a fair bench fee. Unit powers up fine and sounds like a champ.
Well worth the total cost of getting it new without dishing out the "new" price tag.
