Jeannie Pickguards - Has anyone else had trouble?
I had a 94 Jem7vwh that was missing the rear tremelo spring cover. I found out that J-P (lets keep it short) could make me one for 18.00 + 6.00 SH I sent the money order in may, the last week of and they just called me yesterday evening 27 June 01, and told me after I had called to inquire, that they had just found my M.O. and what should they do with it? I was getting the guitar ready to sell and ended up selling it minus the cover. Just trying to be nice on my part. What crappy service.

I called them wanting an RG7 pickguard and expecting "ok, it will be on its way in 6 to 8 weeks" instead I get a "it will be there in 2 or 3 days" and it was here in 2. Great pickguard. great service. its pretty expensive but I think it was well worth it. (about 65$ if i remember correctly)
As for your trem cover, you know humans make mistakes and Roger is no exception. Or whoever else might have made a mistake with your money order. Did they try to compensate for any inconvience at all or did they just send the money order back?
Either way I was happy.
Which reminds me, you still here Roger? I remember you use to post on the old forum all the time I dont see you around here anymore.

Jeannie Pickguards
Some people are really happy with Jeannie... I'm not.
A long time ago I wanted a replacement pickguard for my UV. *I emailed him... and he quoted me something in the region of $50. *It seemed high, but if it was quality work, I wouldn't mind sooo much. *Then he said something about one of the rear corner of the pickguard would be routed at a different angle, thus making it NOT an exact replacement. *I thought this was weird, he said that he didn't have the equipment to properly route it and that I wouldn't notice the difference. *
Well, I didn't like the sound of this... so I said "would it be at all possible to route it the same way as the Ibanez ones?" *He told me he could but he'd have go out and get more equipment and basically charge me for the equipment. *He was rather rude about the entire deal, and I ended up not getting a pickguard from him.
There was much more to the conversation, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember it very well. *
Either way, I say talk to the guy and THEN decide if you want to deal with him.

To be honest guys, these are all jobs you can do yourself for a 1/5th the price.
(just for future reference)
Grab some thin PVC and a fretsaw/coping saw.
Cover it with masking tape and cut away.
Tidy up with sanding paper.
Have a go.

Roger didn't have the correct angle router bit for the edge of the guard, he now has the correct 22 1/2 degree bit to cut them right. For the amount of time it would take to make a quality repro yourself, especially after screwing up the first 5!!, would be advisable to let a pro do it, or order a factory one from Ibanez.

I have always had good experances with Roger all the 4 pickguards( two of which were uv guards) and 2
truss rod covers
I have gotten from him were great. and $50 is not that high, see how much WD or Chadler would do it for ( $45 trace pattern fee + price of the guard= about $70)

Thanks guys! Maybe my letter with M.O. got dropped on the mailroom floor and ended up being discovered weeks later? who knows? But based on what I've read and my own experience, I think return reciept requested might solve misplacement problems? That way at least you know someone that works there recieved and signed for your dough. Lesson learned. I love this site!!!!!

At times I couldn't be more happy with the stuff I got from JP. Other times I couldn't be more upset. The thing to remember is that NO business entity is trouble free (corporation or single person) They all make mistakes and as long as they are willing to correct them in a timely and professional manner (something JP seems willing to do), it shouldn't be a problem.

So you would like to trash me for an 18.00 back plate.
Things happen and your money order was sent back to you.
I remember the bevel thing and never had any one complain about the 45 degree bev.
A universe pickguard in black/white/black is 125.00 from Ibanez so i think our prices are reasnable.
If we make a mistake we refund or make a new part to replace what ever was wrong.
Thanks
Roger

Re: Jeannie Pickguards - Has anyone else had trouble?
Yeah a bit late with the reply. Don't really see the point other than bringing up bad publicity again. Like reopening old wounds. Surely everyone had forgotten about this thread.
However, I don't agree with the idea that 7stringer did not have the right to get upset because the cost was only $18.00. Money is money, wether he was out $5.00 or $50.00 he had every right to be upset. Hopefully it all worked out in the end.
