No, it's two DS-1s essentially, sandwiched in one chassis and swirled, with the Vai logo slapped on for extra value. Exactly why I would not buy this, especially when two brand new DS-1s cost $80 together, plus I guarantee you that the bright switch does not justify the extra $120, neither does the swirl job.
Anyway just my two cents.

If I wanted that then I'd strip the paint off a better pedal, swirl it. Then go get Vai to sign it

Re: Jemini Pedal
I don't get it? Why would you need two of the same pedals in the same casing? Why not just buy two seperate ones? They could have at least made them two different pedals.

Re: Jemini Pedal
There may be a few pattern but I don't believe they are swirls, just look like it. My eyes are getting bad enough I couldn't be positive by looking at it but I took a couple close ups that show the pixilization. Unless it's the camera playing tricks on me.

Re: Jemini Pedal
Well, what I meant was, maybe you can have one set up for rhythm play, then when your solo comes in, you step on the 2nd, which is set for guitar solos, then after the solo, you switch back to the 1st one which has rhythm settings.

Re: Jemini Pedal
Mikey has said on Vai.com that the
Ibanez catalog
is not accurate - that it is indeed an overdrive and a distortion taking the place of the DS-1 and Tube Screamer.

Re: Jemini Pedal
I heard Steve was standing in a corn field once and heard a voice say "If you swirl it they will buy it." Some call him nuts. Imagin that huh?

If THAT were the case, then maybe yes it would be worth looking in to.

It is not two identical distorions ibanez ****ed up there description. It is like a DS-1 and a TS9. Still buy the damage control solid metal it is all tube for the same price.

Re: Jemini Pedal
I don't know about anybody else, but does any one else think this pedal looks extremely cheap and tacky? the knobs make it look like a $50 pedal, and the cheap lookin swirls make it look even more cheap!
blech... I'm with other people on this one, I'd rather buy 2 separate pedals (even the ones they were supposedly modeled after) rather than buy this overpriced 2-in-2 unit.

Re: Jemini Pedal
it's a great idea in theory, as a lot of players have those 2 pedals in their set-up already. the question is are the ts9 and ds1 that this pedal is based on based on the modded versions or stock versions? vai uses modded versions of both i believe and there is a huge difference tone-wise. i think i'll still stick with the separate versions though.

Re: Jemini Pedal
if this pedal is based on modded versions then someone should get up and say so...otherwise i agree on it just being a toy for hobbiests..lol
a few tours ago Vai was using the EVH phaser until word got out and he switched it...so lets see if Vai uses the factory pedal...it doesnt have his name on it so contractually he may not even use it... and if he has it modded..thanks
