Jimmy Page tone


Right.....well havnt bin here a while so hi everyone, i has just wondering wat settings i should use to get page tone i hav Fender Blues Deluxe, (Christmas Pressie) RG2550E DS1 SD1 HM2 and a jackhammer any ideas would be apprieciated, thanks

Well, Pagey's orignal sound was a Tele through a Vox AC30. Pretty Clean actually on the first album.

Then he went to the LP through Marshalls and that's probably what you'r thinking....your gear is pretty far away from his, but I would suggest you try playing along with a CD - don't worry about accuracy - focus on the tone of the CD and try to simulate it with your gear - one note: Jimmy almost NEVER plays with his guitar volume knob on 10 - he likes 6-8, so start there with your pickups and adjust the amp from there.

The Jackhammer should be able to give you a pretty convincing Marshall crunch. Set it to distortion, quite a bit of gain, use the contour to get a mid-heavy signal... treble to cut off the sharp edges, and run it through the clean channel of your amp.
