JJ Tubes

Just a FYI if you are curious about tube brands. I replaced the Mesa Boogie ( probably some Chinese brand ) tubes in my ADA MP-1 with JJs with a 114 gain, and WOW. JJ tubes are awesome! If you have an ADA give them a try! They really brought out the richness.. it's hard to explain lol. The sound is less noisy, more clear, and MUCH more responsive to attack etc. Maybe that makes sense. I get a much meaner 80's distortion with them too. ( the 80s distortion is more the ADA's deal, but the MEAN sound is JJ's! ).

I just did a complete retube of my 5150II with JJ tubes, and have to agree with the accolades. Instant reduction in noise, and the clean tone has undergone an incredible improvement. My bandmate, after hearing the before & after commented "man, it's actually sounding like a clean tone now."

I replaced my v1 tube with a 12ax7 rated at 100 gain, to try and clean up the clean channel. biased up warm it really does make it sound like a different amp. High gain is less noisy and warmer as well.

I agree... I love J&J/Teslas. They used to come stock in VHT that's how I got turned on to them.
