JMP-1 Users

Hey everybody. Im fairly new here, and I just figured I would see who uses a marshall jmp-1.

Personally I love that preamp. I just got one new a week ago. Its my third one over the years. Every time I decide I want something different, I always end up going back to the marshall. Funny too, I used to hate marshalls before I found this years ago. I dunno, their heads that I have tried never did it for me at all.
I found this preamp second hand at a guitar store years ago. I figured I would try it out and I took it home. I've been hooked ever since.

Anyone else use it?

I use one in combination with an ADA MP-1 in a wet/dry combination. Works extremely well...

Re: JMP-1 Users

Nice rack. I have got to take some pictures of mine. I have a jmp-1 thru a marshall el34 100/100. I use the Xpression as well. Its a nice unit. I use a ISP prorackG for a noise gate, it works perfectly. Other than that its just a midi pedal, a rack tuner and a furman.

Oh, and by the way I have to ask. Whats with all the eq units? (Or at least they look like EQ's to me, I could very well be wrong here.)

And what are those BBE units? I had a sonic maximizer years ago but I got rid of it. I just didnt need to use it.

Wow, if someone can't sound good through a set up like that......

Nice rig. Ever thought of simplifying?

1 MONO Pre-EQ for each preamp, and 1 Stereo Post-EQ. I've found that if you're super interested in tone, the most important effect in your rack is your EQ. The exceptions, obviously, are those pure "guitar-amp" combinations, like a Les Paul straight into a Plexi...

The first BBE is actually a Compressor/BBE combo. The second is a straight BBE. Only the second BBE is engaged.

Re: JMP-1 Users

2 THINGS:

1) JMP-1 - I personally prefer it to my mesa triple rex - I've always been more of a "Throaty" tone guy and the jmp lets me get that - combined with the el34 100/100 and the power matches the mesa

2) Moreso for "Racerevlon" or maybe someone else
I want to run my JMP-1 stereo and Rockton Prophecy 2 stereo to the same marshall el34 100/100 amp

I'm currently thinking of a/b switching each preamp then running the preamps to a mixer (such as the behringer eurorack 1602) then running the mixer stereo to the amp. Is there an easier way that I may have overlooked?

Thanks

Re: JMP-1 Users

Need some clarification what you're trying to do. Do you want to use them both at the same time (one into each side) or switch between the two?

JA
I switch between 2 preamps using one of these:

I've been very impressed with it. I also use it to run both preamps in parallel to create some other interesting sounds.

Yes, but you can never have too many toys!
I also run 3 pedals in different loops so I can control everything via a midi board. It is extremely versatile.
