JSX Clip

Mic'd like this.

http://www.uploading.com/files/IIVWU..._peak.wma.html

I went back to a JSX. Still have the FSS for the things the JSX wont do.

Thanks, Darin

Re: JSX Clip

Is that a Vox on top of the Legacy? What model is it and how does it sound compared to the tastey JSX.

Re: JSX Clip

Nice to hear you decided to get another JSX. How do you like the combo as opposed to the head? Btw, is that just the JSX alone? The recording sounded pretty good, though the drums need a little more life.

Re: JSX Clip

Legacy is bone dry.

The VOX is a 60wt Valvetronix. It's playes great, very sensitive for noodly tapping stuff. But it doesn't have the life or color of the JSX. But you could gig it. It has all effect etc.

The combo sounds like the head. The Legacy cab is a bit darker and punchier, so I like to use it for recording.

Re: JSX Clip

I played a JSX combo in my local store and it seemed a little dry, what do you think? Was I just not messing with settings enough? Also I remember you getting the JSX to sound like a Legacy, can you do that with the combo or does it still need to go through the Legacy cab to really be authentic?

One last question.... where have you been haha

Re: JSX Clip

The Combo will sound different than a closed back cab for the reason that it's open back and you hear the back as well. I "think" that closed cabs are punchier sounding because of the trapped air. But that's just my theory. The eq on the JSX is active. So when you turn the bass/treble/mid, alot happens. Small adjustments are usually all that's needed. And most people run them at about 1 oclock. It's a tube combo, so it's going to sound a bit dry by itself. I have some the apprecieate the sound of dry.

Where have I been?

I was paid a visit by the a "member" of Forum Police and sentenced to 3 month in solitary. Guess he has control issues. Oh well. I hold no bad feelings for him. He is what he is. )

Re: JSX Clip

Hallo Darin and welcome back, sorry to hear about your "unconviniences". Hope you are well! Of one or another reason didn`t i manage to open your soundclips on my computer but i am sure they where as good as usual from you! Did you ever play a Diezel Einstein? If not you should. I am pretty sure you would like it a lot! Cleans as good as Fender cleans, super fat lead tone and gain as much as you want. The whole package if you ask me. Didn`t have the chance to test the JSX but the Diezel floored all the other amps "Hand on Heart".

Re: JSX Clip

I have not played the Deizel amps. But a friend owns one and gets all the tone he wants from it. He also owns JSX Marshall and others. I've heard his amp and it does sound great. Quite pricey though.

I do love my Diezel Herbert. It makes everything else sound pale in comparison.

Re: JSX Clip

Sorry but guitars sounded too muffled to my ears.
I like them more mesa sounding, more mids.
And in your case more mid and treble.
But if that's the tone you like,it's ok.

Yep, as much as I liked it for what it did, I just can't justify owning 2 amps. The FSS and the JSX are completely different beast. Lower level light gain stuff, the FSS kills the JSX and takes gain pedals better then the JSX. But for chunka chunka drop D stuff and noodley riffin, the JSX is right at home.

JSX no pedals.

To bad it doesn't sound like that through a PA.

Question

Re: JSX Clip

Have seen the vids before. Killer playing as always from you. I remember you writing about the following: Better to have a amp with lower gain and a refined vintage sound than a high -gain amp because you can always get a good high gain sound from a lower gain amp with some good OD pedals in front of it, but not vice versa.
