JSX combo

Hello all

I am about to purchase a peavey JSX 2x12 combo amp, I have tried it out and it sounds terrific. I am just wondering now about reliability, any feedback.

Cheers

Re: JSX combo

No reliability issues with my JSX head. But. the knobs are pretty big. I've had to have pots replaced from bumping the knobs in transport and breaking off the pot shafts. A case is out of the question for a JSX combo if you ever expect to lift it into a car. Heavy already, I think 95lbs? Just for kicks, you might try sealing up the back for that closed back cab punch sometime.

Enjoy

I take your point about the knobs and I will have to be careful, I am gonna go for it!

Re: JSX combo

peaveys have always been reliable, and their customer support is very good.
If you like the sound of the amp, I say go for it

Re: JSX combo

I have the 212 Combo and it sounds fantastic. SKB makes a transport case for it and so do a couple of other companies. I keep mine in my living room on an Auralex platform and have no issues with it.

Re: JSX combo

Thanks all for the replies, I bit the bullet and bought it. I still have to go in and collect it, I don't know how I am going to get it home, I don't drive and it weighs a ton.

Re: JSX combo

I've owned a Jsx combo and it was the best combo i've ever played. It was also the heaviest combo i had to carry, it would've been nice if they built it with casters to wheel it on, but you can do that yourself.
The ONLY reason i sold mine was because i moved and could not play it because it is too loud for the neighbors. Otherwise i would still have it.
The amp had excellent tone, and all the gain i could ever need......it was nice to be able to ditch my ds-1 pedals and get sweet tones without any problems.

Re: JSX combo

I got it home in a taxi, unfortunately I live on a 3rd floor apartment the only access to it is via stairs, I think my arms are 2 inches longer now.

Re: JSX combo

Well, at least you got a nice workout

Once you get used to the weight, it's not that bad.

Jimmy

P.S.: How about some pics?

(I posted this on another JSX thread, thought it might be helpful here as well)

Here's a nice JSX clip I made a while back on my JSX review.

Played on my PRS Tremonti SE

I'm guessing that the second clip (Sounds like Legacy) is used on crunch...what settings did you use for that clip, if you don't mind me asking.

Re: JSX combo

Not sure which channel I used actually. But probably the crunch, I prefer it for soloing. I usually run everything at about 1 o:clock, Except the Bass, which I run full on at lower bedroom levels. Running into 2x12 Legacy cab with v30's.
