Hey guys I must say this has made my tone much better. The crate gx1200h is a piece of crap but it isn't that bad if you work with the knobs a bit. A lot of people say "oh crate... garbage" but i'd say its got a better distortion "grain" or whatever you might call it than most other cheap amps. It's pretty saturated but not fizzy and the v30's in my recto cab make it sound really balanced.
I should post some pics in a minute. I got a straight chassis slant front cab if that makes any sense... it looks like a straight cab chassis with a slanted baffle. I dont think mesa makes them like that anymore.
Since my crate head has 2 outputs on the back (it's not stereo) and it's solid state I just have to make sure i don't go below 4 ohms. So i've ran one cable from each output on my head to the bi-amp jacks on my recto cab which do left and right sides of the cabinet... each jack is a 4 ohm load instead of the mono 8 ohm input on the cab which makes my setup louder.
This thing is great. My shi**y crate cabs were so shrill and harsh. Now all I need is a head (or a power amp and use my podxt as a preamp).
Anyone else have recto cabs here that would like to comment on them? Feel free. Tips and suggestions are welcome as well. :]
