Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
yeah, the Keeley's tend to sound like
modded Marshall
's and the Metal Muff tends to sound like a modified fuzz...

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
cool, i was wondering if it was high gain enough for metal/shred (keeley) because i heard alot of people just use it for a boost :S /// Is it good at going from your amp being clean and then to higain distortion in one stomp?

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
You should have tried
uber metal
from line6, IMO the best distortion ever!!!

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
oh yeah I've heard about that.. but I wanted a good higain pedal but like too
heavy metal
of a pedal.. I also liked the fact that the keeley ds-1 supposedly had organic/ tube like tone and the LED mod this is pretty cool..
is line 6 only good for metal?

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
The uber metal is all about tweaking I saw a guitar player here who can get classic rock tone with it, deep purple stuff and all, IMO the uber metal can have insane gain but still smooth as hell.

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
I seriously haven't tried the keeley's modded but I've tried the analogman's instead, I think this both should be nearly I mean just nearly the same, It can stand alone by itself, enough gain, listen to tender surrender Mr vai goes from clean to distorted

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
The analogman sounds so damn sweet and so round, a 100 times better than the stock ones, the stock ones sounded so thin and weak, almost make me quit the guitar
I've tried the metal muff, it's just too fuzzy, very hard to get round tone from it, and it doesn't sound smooth at all. IMHO.... Oh yeah Mr vai is using the analogman's Ds1 now

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
The analoge.man DS-1 uses germanium diodes for smooth and warm clipping, the keeley uses either 1N4002 diodes or LED clipping (the toggle switches between the 2 options). The LED clipping might look 'cool' for the children but in reality is just plain harsh and nasty, the 1N4002's sound smooth, not as heavy sounding as a real Marshall but not bad for use straight into a recording console or similar.

Re: keeley ds-1 ultra v.s. ehx metal muff
so is the analoge man a better high gain pedal? or is the keeley still a good hi gain pedal? :S is it possible to set the LED clipping to make it sound nice?
