keyboard recommendations

hey folks,

can someone please reccommend me a good quality but cheap keyboard.

its for someone who already plays piano but as a student can never have one cause you cant bring it with you when you move.

so the most important thing is that it has a natural 'piano like' feel to the keys... they are not too pushed about the quality of the synth Im guessing it will be mostly piano font being used....

the other major criteria is going to be price ... again a student related thing... but the have said they would be willing to part with around £200

any advice will be greatly appreciated

Steve

i'd say you take a look around www.********.com and www.***************.com. i have never experimented on keyboards but my piano teacher says that it's not very good to practice on a keyboard. so if they can afford, a piano would be better.

nonetheless take a look at http://www.********.com/Portable-Keyboards-d147.music

hope it helps.

btw, if you have questions about this kinda thing you can pm them to me and i'll ask them to my teacher for you...

Real piano feel, £200. Not happening.
Expect to spend around £500 first hand, minimum.

The only thing I've ever played that had real piano feel was a Roland A-90. But its price range is far away from £200.

i have a yamaha psr-292 that i got for about $200 usd...real piano feel? not really, does respond to changes in attack (to use a guitar player's term) but the keys aren't weighted. the portable grand piano sound is pretty good though..of course i'm a guitar player, not a piano player... your friend might also look into a controller/software solution that they could run on a laptop or tower (for instance, Mac's Garageband has a very convincing piano sound...)

I recently got the entry Yamaha electric piano. The P60. It has the same action as their top of the line models, but less good samples, and no sequencer.

It's very good though, and I normally play a Steinway.

It costs £550.

Well, IMHO I think when you play a Steinway, you can't play anything else after. Their pianos are too good!
