For bedroom, quiet practice it's pretty good. Sounds nice. But live at loud volumes it's pretty bad. The sound of the guitar through the amp at high volumes greatly depends on where you are standing in relation to the amp. E.g. directly front on sounds tight and meaty, but from the side it's all high frequency (ie. painful).
The other thing about this processor is that it doesn't "breathe". You can't lightly pick something and have the guitar sing, or roll the volume off and continue to play. The compressor is just too harsh.

I don't think there's a single multi-effects unit that really allows for any tube-like dynamics. And, there's no modelor that sounds good cranked. I bought an AX3000G in August for jamming at a friends house, plugged straight into the PA. The results weren't bad at all. I think it's a pretty good unit. I put it up against: Boss ME-50, GT-8, Digitech GNX3, 4, and 3000, Line6 Pod, Zoom units, Korg AX1500G, and the
Vox Tonelab. I left with the AX3000G. The Boss GT-8 wasn't bad, but I HATE Boss distortion; very boxy sounding and most of the time has that playing through a tin can sound. The Vox Tonelab was nice, pretty similar sound-wise to the AX3000G. Every Digitech unit I've tried sounded either thin, harsh, weak, or all of the above.
I really don't use the AX3000G much, but it is a pretty nice multi-effects unit. I moved two weeks after I bought the AX3000G, so it's been sitting in my closet for the most part since September. I occasionally take it out and use it. But, multi-effects units just have too much, more than I need. When I can't bring my setup with me, the AX3000G does a pretty good job.
