Krank Amps

We chose this line of amps above all others for our tiny shop because we found they blew absolutely everything else away - and 90% of people who come to see us looking for something serious in the tube amp line have been impressed. Some people have the preconception that they are only for metal players - not true, though naturally the Krankenstein is a superb choice for those of a shreddier nature, but the Chadwick, my husbands choice, is designed for those who like playing anything from bluesy rock eg: Led Zep, to doomy rock eg: Black Sabbath, and in fact is versatile enough to satisfy most tastes and player styles, and the Revolution which is a great all rounder, as is its little brother, the Rev Jnr. We think they should be the worlds leading amp, but wonder if its misconceptions or maybe less advertising than the more common brands that encourages people to make other choices. The price tags are certainly for someone wanting to pay for a decent amp, you could use a Junior in your bedroom, but the others are really for playing out, but they areall less money and better value and have had more serious research done and genuinely higher specs than the tops of the ranges in many other brands, Peavey, Marshall,H&K etc.
As stated, we've sold to most people who've come looking, but we were wondering, why don't more people come looking for this particular brand? Just a bit of research on my part, I hope you don't mind, and I'll take anything that anyone has to say most seriously.
Cheers for your time.

Re: Krank Amps

They don't need to, believe me. One of our lads stood in front of one during a demo, and then had to throw up coz his insides hurt!

Re: Krank Amps

I think Krank has had a pretty hit or miss reputation as an amp maker, but I've heard some really good things about their newly revamped stuff.

Well, it's one louder, innit?

I tried a Krank not too long ago (before settling on my Carvin X100B). The build quality was nice, and the amp sounded good enough, but it just wasn't my particular cup of tea.

To each his (or her) own...everyone has different ears and tolerances...

Re: Krank Amps

The Krank heads are like $1500-$1700+, how is that less money?

I would take a Mesa Reco any day over Krank.

Re: Krank Amps

For what they can do -> to pricey. There are cheaper all tube amps that perform as well or better.
For premium amps -> there are better amps for premium prices of course.

So in the "bang for the buck" category they fail for me and for the premium sound category they are also nowhere near the real premiums.

Re: Krank Amps

The only people I've ever seen play them are cartoon characters, honestly. I don't think I've ever seen one in a store.... I would try one, but haven't had the chance. I'm pretty happy with my Carvin though while I save up for a Fuchs

Re: Krank Amps

Played a Krank once. It was huge sounding. That's it though, no subtlety or dynamics. Also only HIIIIIIII siound gain was good. If that's what you do then there you go. I used to be that way myself, but lately a VOX AC30 sounds better and better.

Re: Krank Amps

Hetfield from Metallica seems to like them, but after Hammet starting endorsing Randall, you've got to wonder if it's all a marketing exercise. Anyway, I shant judge something I've never heard.

Re: Krank Amps

I played Rev. and it sounded very tinny. and i Kranked that sucker. i like the MESA rectifier a lot better. and even the Rectifier sounds good a low volumes. I expected a lot more from a Krank. Maybe the Krankenstein sounds better. I did not like the Rev.
