Laney GH100L Head into Ibanez cab GOOD?
whaaaaaasup guys? a Laney stack is what i want but i'm currently stuck coz i dont have enough cash and no one is buying the Ibanez stack. i'm wondering is it a good idea if i buy the GH100L head and just hook it up to the Ibanez cab with the original Ibanez head? i read the menu and i know i can connect two heads into one cab, but i dont know if the Laney will sound good thru the Ibanez cab. does the cab really make a big difference on sound? or? plz help! thanks!

The cab makes just as much difference in sound as the head. Ive never heard Ibanez cabs, so I really couldnt give you an opinion on what I think it would sound like, but it really depends on how YOUR ear interprets the sound. Just tweak it for a while (I usually give a head or cab a couple of months unless it just sounds awful to begin with...takes time to get to know the head/cab) and see how it goes.

you can't expect too much from a US$299 cab
that's why i'm asking is it a good idea if i buy the Laney head first and use the Ibanez cab till i am able to sell the Ibanez stack, then i'm going to buy a Laney cab.

are you buying the laney new? from a store? if so, try to work out a trade...buy the head and try to trade the ibanez stack for the matching cab...

Yeah, you can definately trade, although you'll be giving it to them at a price that will allow them to sell it for fair market value while still making a profit, so you won't make as much as you will privately the conveniance comes at a cost.
But yeah, if you need to, buy the head and hook it up to the Ibanez cab, providing it's the correct ohmage- it should be, or the head ought to have a few switchable ohm settings. The deaer can explain this to you if you have any questions.

My GH50L has differrent outputs on the back
1 16
ohm output
, 2 8 ohms and 2 4 ohms outputs
So i think there shouldn't be any problem there

i'm the kind of person that when i see something that i want, i want to get it right away or at least within a short period of time. i know i will get more $$ if i sell it privately but i just can't wait that long. i don't have an ebay seller account... and i already posted an ad in the ad section for a few weeks now and it seems no one is interested on the Ibanez stack. may be everyone is looking for a
tube amp
or a combo. but i think the Ibanez stack sounds pretty cool... especially for the price... it's a good deal (consider i sell it even cheaper coz it's used)
