Laney VC50 combo - Need some comments about it

Lately, I've seen many local band players using the Laney VC50 (combo version of VH100R Head). Is it good for Vai-style music?? For what musical styles is it suitable/unsuitable?

Thanks!

Laney VC50 combo

Well...

I dont know if i can help. I have the LC30, which is a very different amp but is great for petrucci. I can say that laney have awesome build quality although i havent compared them to something like boogie.

Last time i heard a*VC50 was on an italian tv show called Roxy Bar were bands play live. The guitarist had a VC50/100 [not sure] tru which he played a Tom Anderson droptop. He wasn't playing Vai but he sure as hell had the best tone i ever ever EVER heard!!!

Go and try one...you'll like it. If u cant, rest at ease. It's got six gain stages if i remember well.

Laney VC50 combo

Well I tried one out [VC50] about 18months ago...and the main impression was LOUD!!!!

Pretty versatile but way too much treble in it for my liking. *I tried it with a Strat so its difficult to say what its like with an Ibanez but I remember it didn't have as much gain as a 5150 combo.
