Laney VH100R and GH100L

How are these? Im interested in them, cuz those are 2 of the 3 amps Im thinking of getting, the third being the Carvin v3. Im mostly needing answers on the GH though...on the site it says its 1 channel with footswitchable gain...so is this basiclly the equivalent to 2 channels with a shared EQ or what?

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

No, it's one channel with a footswitchable 1-stage gain boost. If you run it high gain it will not go back to clean by turning the boost off. YOu can either turn the boost off then roll your volume down for a gritty clean, or find some other way to get a clean tone(I run a Boss GT8 in the 4-cable set-up with my GH50L).

Maybe later on I'll find one of my previous posts about these and type up something for you..

If you need a dedicated clean channel, you'll want the VH100R.

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

hey
its a share channel
so u cant really change from dist channel to clean channel, vice versa
but its possible to footswitch and boost a dist channel into a heavier mode
great sounding amp,..but just lacks the channel ability

If you need channel switching, get the VH100R, 'cause you can't do that with the GH50. I personally don't need channe switching, so I went with the GH50L. Plus, it's cheaper.

Eww...see it sounds so good but why did they have to do that?! Is it so hard just to make it a two channel amp or something?

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

The price is much lower than the 2 channel version.

Doesn't bother me at all, the sound of the amp more than makes up for it.

Well, you CAN have clean, you just can't switch back and forth.

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

excellent amps. i own the gh100ti. one channel but powerful and loud. as far as i know there is a footswitch that excludes the gain (the marshall switch also is compatible).
i use it with the gt8 with the 4cm and 100% satisfied!!!

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

Firstly, they're f*cking loud. If you're going to go with a GH, go with the GH50, unless you seriosuly need the full hundred watts. Plus, a 50 watter is more crankable.

One thing that people don't seem to remember when playing the GH is it's responsiveness. If you set the amp to a killer metal tone (a al Gilbert, for example), it'll clean up beautifully just by rolling down the volume knob, without actually losing alot of volume. Confuses me why so few people use the volume knob on their guitar.

Re: Laney VH100R and GH100L

I roll it down when im to lazy to move my foot to the pedal lol

Ill put the volume down a bit if its a building sortof solo like the paradigm shift solo or softer solos, but when shredding or playing rythim, it make it sound too thin and unresponsive, although I havent used a dimarzio pot yet, there supposed to have a better taper or something.
