Lee Jackson XLS-1000 or Ampeg VL-1002/502?

Any one have experiences with either of these amps? What did you think?

Had a VL502 back when they first came out, sold it to a buddy way too cheap. I would probably buy another one if I found one. They seem to be selling pretty cheap last time I checked

There's a VL502 in one of our music stores going for $330. I'm interested in trying it out but not sure if 50 watts is enough to handle a gig or practice.

Could the VL series handle more modern metal stuff?

I don't think you'd find a better amp for $300. 50 watts is plenty loud.

What was you take on the sound of the amp?

It was a good hot-rodded marshall type amp. High gain, all tube, decent clean channel. Like I said, for $300 I dont think there's a better amp out there. I'd think it was a decent amp at twice that price or more. The friend I sold mine too dropped it off the tailgate of his truck and it didnt even break a tube.
