Legato problems new here!

Hi everybody!
I'm new here
I have a JEM7BSB and a Marshall TSL601 but I can't get a fluid legato playing on the lead channel. What do you think?
Is it the Evolution pick-ups?

Hi!

I think it's probably a technique problem, because the equipment you have is world class...

It's VERY unlikely to be your pickups, but perhaps check your action, it may be too high..?

Yeah, good tube amps like the TSL series won't cover up any marginal technique faux pas.

I would review my set up, and practice your legato runs un-amplified. If you can get them to sound good without an amp, you're good to go as long as your string muting is up to par.

Once you step back into using the amp, try to add some compression to get that sustain going...a little reverb and delay also add to the flavor.

Thanks!
Well...to say the truth I did get a very fluid legato sound out of my old fender solid state amp. I know it's strange but other guys I read of while I was looking at other forums did have legato problems with TSL amps on the lead channel
It's like...I dunno maybe I'm not pushing the tubes enough....
I'm getting an overdrive pedal...
The point is that thing sounds awesome for picking, sweep picking (althugh a little little bit muddy) and power chords but legato just doesn't cut thru
But yeah the action could have an effect...
If you have similar amps please share your opinions!

The bedroom volume could have a lot to do with it...

I know your problem, I have a TSL 100 and it really needed to be cranked to sound worth a damn. Clean channel is outstanding, but the other two needed some serious help so I had it all modded. Should be back on Monday, weather permitting. Had the output transformer replaced with a custom one and some circuit mods to warm it up and give it my specified tone. Can't wait. One of my beefs was the lead channels buzziness and lack of sustain. That's all history now.

Hie...it's definitely NOT ur guitar's problem...Evolutions are...just listen to steve yeah?
actually one of my students are having the same problem....he has an ASHDOWN peacemaker20 combo which has...i dunno...lotsa tubes in it...and in my opinion the tube amp distortion has GREAT tone....but not the type for shredding....more for blues and all......
u find it easier doin it on a solid state coz the dist on solid states are basically...a dist box inside the amp...
i would suggest u to get a ds-1 or simillar boost pedals.....set the pedal dist to 0...and the level to max.......see what happens to the sustain

I get a fluid legato sound even on my nylon-string acoustic.
Chops is where the truth is at here.

PRACTICE.
