God knows I've looked. I think it's kinda BS when they sell the good stuff separate and still charge so much for the unit.

Sadly there's no such thing as so, you can't download without paying them, cos only when you pay em, they'll detect your line 6 hardware and install it in. But the model packs are awesome!

Re: line 6 model packs

yeah it sucks. they should be heaps cheaper. one of them is more expensive than the unit (toneport) it would be cool if you could transfer them between units. so if someone had bought it they could send it to your one.

to be honest, you may as well get an x3, it has all of them installed. <otherwise, just get the metal packs upgrade, as that is the most usefull, i didn't get much out of the classic pack

Surprising, given the 50s swing sound you've been going for all these years

Re: line 6 model packs

I agree about making you pay more for the packs. There isn't really a reason that they can't put them on there. Some people will argue that it's to save you money but really it wouldn't cost them any extra to put them there in the first place.

Smart marketing though I guess. Reeks of the DVD drive on the original Xbox needing a 'playback kit' for an extra £19.99 despite the fact that it was quite capable of running them without.

Yeah, it is a bit dissapointing having to buy them really, especially since they make the xt very usable instead of ok. THe guitar tones I get now are way better than when i started out with the initial models.

I guess it's why they bought out the X3, which contains all of them as standard, and stops the differentiation between bass and guitar pods and makes it an all in one, even though they didn't updatethe modelling.

I mean, imagine how annoyed everyone with a bass pod-xt would be if they suddenly found they could have bought the guitar one (infinitely more upgradable, the bass one won't take packs i believe) and got the bass one for free.

Still, i have my pro fully loaded which is nice, but still, having had to pay for it was a bit of a bitch, but, it's made it indespensible.

As for torrents, the pod updater works by contacting the line 6 server, verifying the registered hardware, account and purchase, then downloads them, which is pretty tricky to get around, in fact, any questionable way of getting them on there would need to have 3rd party install software, as well as the actual packs. Basically, a load of hassle.
