Yeah, it is a bit dissapointing having to buy them really, especially since they make the xt very usable instead of ok. THe guitar tones I get now are way better than when i started out with the initial models.
I guess it's why they bought out the X3, which contains all of them as standard, and stops the differentiation between bass and guitar pods and makes it an all in one, even though they didn't updatethe modelling.
I mean, imagine how annoyed everyone with a bass pod-xt would be if they suddenly found they could have bought the guitar one (infinitely more upgradable, the bass one won't take packs i believe) and got the bass one for free.
Still, i have my pro fully loaded which is nice, but still, having had to pay for it was a bit of a bitch, but, it's made it indespensible.
As for torrents, the pod updater works by contacting the line 6 server, verifying the registered hardware, account and purchase, then downloads them, which is pretty tricky to get around, in fact, any questionable way of getting them on there would need to have 3rd party install software, as well as the actual packs. Basically, a load of hassle.
