Question

Line 6 POD

Hey all.................
I realize this probrably isnt the section for this posting, but I figured more people pop in here then anywhere....................
Just wanted to get opinions on the Line 6 POD. Ive heard & read that theyre the sh*t for recording..............however, I see a ton of em on e*ay. I was thinking seriously about upgrading to one, but I wanted to get some opinions from fellow Ibanez users first
Thanks in advance........................ ~Ranz~

Re: Line 6 POD

My XT is an integral part ofmy rig and probably always will be. Its absolutely the most convenient tone machine...when you need it for shows or for it to get really loud, I can place it into my Atomic Reactor amp that's made for it and get tube infused goodness, when I need to save space or travel i can take it out of there and bam, great tone on the go. Not to mention the ease of use and the 1,000,000 and growing user tones that you can just download via usb from line 6's website.

Re: Line 6 POD

As long as you don't get the pocket pod, that thing is terrible. I had high expectations and was thoroughly disappointed

Re: Line 6 POD

Yeah, the pocket pod is really cheaply built and generally sounds like crap. The XT is the way to go.

Re: Line 6 POD

the best thing to do is get a BBE sonic maximizer, it really brings it to life, although they are great in general, easy to use and are easy to dial in a decent sound fairly quick.

With the pocket model, or all the way around?
I use to have a BBE in my old rack with my Marshalls. I loved it.
I wasnt really even considering the pocket version...........but the 2.0 on up. It would strictly be for direct in line recording............not for live performance.

I really like hooking mine up to the computer and fiddling around with Gearbox. With me, all the different sounds inspires alot of creativity.

Re: Line 6 POD

actually, i think the direct recording is where the pod excels. i've heard a number of pod recordings (check out darin's somewhere on the site) that sound really good. it's just the live aspect that i've yet to see it measure up to a good tube amp.

although i did use my flextone III at a small party gig last weekend and i was surprised at how good it sounded. still not as good as my main rig, but i will definitely use it for smaller situations.

Re: Line 6 POD

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but is there a decent alternative to the pocket pod? Basically a battery/dc adapter-powered headphone practice amp, just with a clean and overdrive channel. Line input would be nice, but its not essential.

I really need something that lets me practice during our wonderful scheduled power cuts.

Re: Line 6 POD

What's the latency like on a Pod USB connection? And is the X3 better than the XT in that regard (it has USB 2.0 vs 1.0) or does it make no difference at all?
